A guided walk to discover east London's architecture and streetscapes with artist and architect Kuda Mushangi. Explore how design and architecture can empower and engage communities, and learn about Mushangi's painting practice rooted in narrative, storytelling, and allegory.

Route & Locations

Starting at the Nunnery Gallery, the walk will explore: Bow Arts Trust headquarters (183 Bow Road), Bromley by Bow Centre (St Leonard's St), Bryant & May Match Factory, Donnybrook Quarter (Parnell Road), and Roman Road Market (536 Roman Road). The walk concludes at the Nunnery Café.

Eligibility & Access

Open to anyone; no architectural background required. Particularly resonates with artists interested in architecture. The route is entirely on street level. The Nunnery Gallery has step-free access throughout from street level, including accessible toilet, and is service animal friendly.

• £7 for concessions (students, over 65s, under 18s, Bow Arts artists, key workers)

About the Guide

Kuda Mushangi, born in 1995, is an artist and architect based in London. He studied architecture at Liverpool School of Architecture and earned his Master of Architecture degree in 2020. He gained recognition through a Tate Modern and Tate Collective open-call competition in 2020, was awarded the Holy Art Gallery Prize in 2021, was a finalist for The Ingram Prize in 2022, and was shortlisted for the East London Art Prize in 2025.
