Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS), operated by a division of The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, offers artist-in-residence programs for international creators in visual art, film, design, and architecture. The program provides opportunities to develop and present new works and research activities in Tokyo, with results presented at an Open Studio and/or Result Presentation.

  • A) Individual Project: 3 months, January–March 2024; 2 creators selected
  • B) Theme Project ("Ecology around the City"): 3 months, May–July 2023; 2 creators selected

Creators are invited to explore ecology as a complex notion spanning environmental, social, and spiritual domains. The program seeks work addressing Tokyo's ecological challenges—natural disaster risks, environmental issues, and the relationship between nature, society, and people—with consideration of cultural differences and values in a metropolitan context.
