Para Site announces Liao Jiaming as the selected artist for its inaugural 2026 International Residency Programme, organised in partnership with Triangle Network. The residency launches at HANGAR in Lisbon, Portugal, offering Hong Kong-based early-career artists an opportunity to connect with international artistic ecosystems.

The two-month residency at HANGAR connects the selected artist with Lisbon's contemporary art scene. The artist will have access to on-site facilities including a painting room, dark room, and music studio, and will engage in collaborative activities, studio visits, and public programmes.

HANGAR is an Artistic Research Centre located in the Graça area of Lisbon. Founded by artists and curators, it provides spaces for artistic residences, studios, art education, exhibitions, and public programmes with a focus on cross-disciplinary visual art projects and emerging contemporary art.

Liao Jiaming (b. 1992, Guangdong) works across photography, video, installation, and performance. His research interrogates the entanglement of technology, ideology, and embodied subjectivity within diasporic contexts, drawing on his experience navigating mainland China, Hong Kong, and digital space to question normative constructions of gender, productivity, and collective identity.

Para Site, founded in 1996 by seven Hong Kong-based artists, has mounted over 300 exhibitions locally and globally, hosted over 80 international residents, and delivered over 1,000 public programmes. It champions original developments in contemporary art by centering artistic voices and providing milestone opportunities to artists and curators.

Established in 1982, Triangle Network is a global network supporting professional development and cultural exchange among artists worldwide. Over four decades, Triangle has provided opportunities for over 5,000 artists and has instigated and supported more than 90 projects in 41 countries.
