Get matched →Dorland Mountain Arts invites residency requests from visual, literary, and composing or performing artists of any career stage. Residency stays may be as short as one week or as long as eight weeks, based on requests and availability.
Located near Temecula Valley Wine Country, about 100 miles south of Los Angeles and sixty miles north of San Diego. Individual cottages include WiFi, window AC, good cell phone reception, kitchen, bathroom, workspace, and a covered porch with mountain and valley views. Two cottages feature a Steinway baby grand piano and a Kimball baby grand. The Community Arts Center provides a library, large writing desk with typewriter, meeting room, and studio room. The Jane Culp Studio features work tables, a Charles printing press (perfect for 12x24" linocuts, monotypes, collographs), and cyanotype supplies. Extensive grounds include a reflecting pond, small lake with rowboat, and hiking trails.
New residents must apply first before requesting dates. Candidates for residency are reviewed in order of receipt of completed applications. If approved by the review board, a contract and request for deposit will be sent. Return of the deposit secures the residency dates.
