About
Overview
Marietta Art Alive invites regional artists to submit original 2-D works inspired by Wendell Berry's poem "The Peace of Wild Things." This juried exhibition will be hosted by MH Art Gallery in Marietta, PA.
Key dates
- Entry Deadline: September 6, 2026 by 8pm
- Artist Notification: by September 10, 2026
- Artist Drop Off: September 27, 11am–3pm or September 28, 4–6pm
- Opening Reception: October 4, 2026, 11am–3pm (Awards announced at 1pm)
- Exhibition: October 3 - November 15, 2026
- People's Choice voting deadline: November 15 at noon
- Pick up unsold artwork: November 15 from 3–5pm
Eligibility
Regional artists. Original 2-D work (paintings, drawings, pastel, collage, mixed media, monotypes, etchings, etc.) created within the last three years solely by the artist. Not permitted: photography, digital art, commercial prints, derivative art where the source is recognizable, or work created during a class, workshop, or online tutorial.
Media & size
Maximum size is 30" on either side including frame. All work must be framed or gallery wrapped (finished sides), wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers accepted.
How to enter
$20 entry fee covers up to 2 pieces of work. Submit photos of artwork (JPEG format, smaller than 4 MB, at least 1920 pixels on shortest dimension at 72 dpi). Applicants automatically consent to artwork being used in promotional materials. Accepted work must be delivered in person; no shipments accepted.
Awards
$750 in total awards will be presented at the opening on October 4, 2026 at 1pm. Best of Show $150 (given in memory of Judy Neidig). Two Juror's Choice Awards $150 each. Two Honorable Mention Awards $100 each. People's Choice Award $100 (announced November 15 at 1pm).
Sales & commission
Artwork must be for sale at a minimum price of $150. 30% of all sales will benefit Rivertownes PA USA (Marietta Art Alive) 501c3. Sales tax will be collected and paid by Rivertownes PA USA. Artists are responsible for any loss or damage during the show.
