Get matched →With remise!, Forum Schlossplatz hands over the Remise at Schlossplatz every summer to a group of committed, culturally-minded people. For a few weeks, the small house in the park becomes a platform, laboratory, stage, meeting place, or experimental field. For 2027, we are looking for a group via an Open Call to develop and realize the next edition of remise!. The design of the summer program is conceived by the group and implemented collaboratively.
The Remise is the annex of the Forum Schlossplatz, equipped with an exhibition room, a studio room, a display window, and surrounded by the adjacent park of the Haus zum Schlossgarten. Within the "remise!" format, a project unfolds between the end of June and mid-August, actively engaging the space. Previous editions show the openness of the format: The Remise has already been used by collectives such as Klub Fritto Misto, Aurora Muse, Compagnie Trottvoir, and Ah-ah, ah-ah-a-ha. Each edition developed its own language and forms of encounter. We want to continue this diversity!
We are looking for cultural, social, and community-oriented ventures: event series, workshops, performances, discussions, readings, interventions, participatory projects, culinary formats, or interdisciplinary experiments. Pure exhibition projects are not intended; instead, we are looking for event-based concepts. We welcome applications from collectives, associations, initiatives, curators, artists, designers, cultural professionals, and temporary groups. More important than a perfect application is a convincing idea and the desire to use a space collaboratively and responsibly with a provided budget. Besides the quality of the idea, suitability for a summer project and connection to the location are crucial. The experience of recent years has shown that a connection of the involved persons to the city of Aarau and the region is an advantage. We therefore particularly welcome applications with a local connection. At the same time, we are open to proposals from outside: What is decisive is not the place of residence of those involved, but the willingness to engage with the place, its people, and networks. remise! sees itself as a non-commercial platform. Projects with a primarily commercial orientation do not fit the format's profile.
