The City of Chandler seeks eight Arizona-based artists or artist teams to create digital artwork for metal traffic control boxes installed across the city. Artists will collaborate with ASU students from the Chandler Creative Arts Fellowship Program, who will conduct community research to inform the final designs. While digital illustrations are primary, work by photographers, painters, drawers, printmakers, and other 2D artists will be considered.

Selected artists will work with ASU Fellows who collect data on Chandler communities through cultural immersion and institution visits. Artists will meet with students in-person multiple times for brainstorming and design finalization, with support from ASU staff. Preference given to artists who have not previously completed a traffic control box for the City. Artwork will be printed and installed on vinyl adhesive wraps; the average lifespan of boxes is anticipated to be 5 years.

Selected artists will receive a $1,600 stipend per box to cover all design costs. Production and installation costs will be covered by the City.
