Get matched →This call seeks one professional visual artist for a paid residency at Panorama Architecture, an architecture firm. The residency is coordinated by Mécènes du Sud, a collective of economic actors that has been organizing artist residencies in business since 2007. The residency focuses on relational and contextual practice: the artist will work in immersion, treating the company's personnel, strategy, materials, technology, and operations as integrated parameters for artistic research and production. A final presentation will occur at the company at the end of the residency and subsequently at a Mécènes du Sud event in late 2027.
Panorama Architecture is a design and project management firm led by architects Ignacio Tillard and Olivier Brouwez. The firm handles rehabilitation projects and major commissions including secondary education, university campuses, cultural equipment, healthcare facilities, office buildings, and sports complexes, as well as interventions on historic buildings. The main office (275 m²) is located at 70 cours Gambetta in Aix-en-Provence; a new headquarters is under construction at 50 avenue Saint-Jérôme in Aix-en-Provence; and a secondary office opened in Paris in 2021.
The residency will take place between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. A minimum of 20 to 25 days of artist presence, distributed across the entire residency period and accounting for other professional commitments, is required.
Candidates must be professional, French-speaking visual artists who have already created and exhibited professionally. They must have a minimum of 3 years of established artistic practice and demonstrated recognition in their discipline's professional networks. Artists must have the capacity to travel within France and ensure sufficient availability to prioritize the residency project. They must hold either a SIRET number or proof of affiliation with artist social security.
Applications are invited from artists working in visual and plastic arts: sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, installation, video, and digital media.

Each artist applies for a single company. The submission must include: a letter of maximum 2 pages explaining the artist's vision for the residency and their motivations; a proposal for allocation of the funding; a portfolio (book); and a detailed CV.
The artist receives a flat-rate residency stipend of 10,000 EUR funded by Mécènes du Sud. This amount covers all artistic costs and production expenses associated with the project, including artist fees and social contributions, author rights, transport, accommodation, and other related costs. A patronage agreement (convention de mécénat) will be concluded between Mécènes du Sud, the artist, and the host company, specifying the commitments of each party.
Mécènes du Sud will conduct an internal preselection. Artists not preselected will be notified in early June to minimize uncertainty and avoid unnecessarily blocking their schedule. Preselected applications will be submitted to Mécènes du Sud's artistic committee, which will present a shortlist of a maximum of 3 candidates to Panorama Architecture for final selection. A telephone interview may be conducted but is not mandatory.
