Open two-phase competition for public art (Kunst am Bau) installations in Building C of the Schadow-Gymnasium Berlin renovation. The scope includes passages, roof gardens, terraces, and general-access interior spaces. Total project budget is 300,000 EUR gross; up to two artworks may be selected, each with up to 150,000 EUR for realization.

Eligibility
Professional visual artists and artist groups resident in Germany. Proof of eligibility is required: either a degree in fine arts (Bildende Kunst) from an art academy or art school, or current membership in a professional artists' association. One application per artist or group only; all members of a group must be fully eligible professional artists.
How to apply
Register and submit a single PDF document (portrait format, max 3 MB) by email to [email protected]. The PDF should be two to three pages and include: Page 1 (use the provided form sheet): Name, residence address in Germany, chronological artistic CV with recent exhibitions and website; Page 2: University degree in fine arts or current membership certificate; Page 3 (optional): additional pages of the degree if multi-page.
Phase one: Concept sketches
Up to 100 applicants will be invited to submit an artistic idea as a concept sketch with conceptual notes. Submissions must be original to this competition (not reused from other competitions in identical form). All submissions are digital. The jury will select up to 15 concepts to advance to phase two.
Phase two: Realization designs
Selected finalists receive 2,500.00 EUR gross compensation (including VAT and all incidental costs) provided they submit a proposal compliant with the competition terms. Finalists will develop their concept into a detailed realization design, delivering both analog and digital materials.
Content & constraints
- Permitted areas: outdoor passages, roof garden, outdoor terrace (before cafeteria), general-access interior spaces (e.g., open collection room)
- Excluded: positions affecting building structure or physics, exterior facades, teaching/specialized rooms, sports hall, fire access roads, and delivery routes
