Get matched →The Greater Augusta Arts Council seeks ten leasable, pre-existing outdoor sculptures for a two-year temporary installation in Downtown Augusta as part of a Public Art Master Plan. The installation will create a walkable art trail to attract visitors to the downtown area.
All ten sculpture sites will have a 4'x4'x4" concrete base and are fully accessible. Sites are spaced to encourage walking from one sculpture to another. Other public art installations already in place will augment the walking tour experience.
All works will be heavily promoted as an arts destination through online, printed, and digital advertising. A digital walking tour will be created and artists will be requested to submit content for the online platform. Regular in-person and online events will bring public attention to the trail. The availability of sculptures for purchase will be regularly promoted.
Selected artists will receive a $3,000 stipend for the 2-year lease of their work: $1,500 upon installation and $1,500 upon de-installation. There will be a purchase of artwork at the end of the temporary installation to add to the City of Augusta's permanent public art collection.
Artists may apply up to 5 times with separate sculptures. Each application must be for one individual sculpture; do not submit different sculptures in one application.
