Overview
Artspace's Exhibition Committee will review proposals for exhibitions of art in all genres for the 2027 calendar year season at the gallery located at 2833-A Hathaway Rd., Richmond, VA 23226 in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center. Proposals may be made for individual, group, or joint shows.
Key Dates
- Applications open: August 15, 2026
- Submission deadline: Friday, October 2, 2026, 11:59 pm Mountain Time
- Jurying: October 10 – November 6, 2026
- Notification of acceptance: Friday, November 13, 2026
- Announcement of completed selections: End of December 2026
Eligibility
Selections made without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, or national origin. Full-time students are not eligible to apply for individual or joint shows.
Media & Size
- All genres and media welcome
- 5-10 images, up to 5 audio files, up to 5 video files (total 5-10 assets)
- All work must fit through gallery door: 33 inches width by 82 3/4 inches height with a diagonal of 88 inches
- Gallery wall height is 96 inches
- Work must have been completed within 5 years of exhibition date, unless proposal is for a retrospective
- For video entries, artists must provide display equipment if work is selected

Fee
$35 non-refundable proposal fee required. Proposals will not be reviewed before finalized payment is received through CaFÉ unless the fee presents a hardship for the proposer. Contact [email protected] to request a fee exemption.
Selection Criteria
Exhibitions will be selected based on artistic merit, track record of past accomplishments, quality of work samples, contribution to Artspace's mission of building stronger communities, fostering opportunities for gathering and learning from art and artists, coordination with other exhibitions during the same period, inspiration from and contribution to broadening understanding of contemporary art in the Greater Richmond area, and fostering innovation and relevance to Artspace visitors.
