The Kota Residency Programme, in partnership with Institut français d'Indonésie and the Cité internationale des arts (Paris), fosters the mobility of artists based in Indonesia and supports the development of their artistic and professional networks. Two artists will be awarded a fully funded three-month residency in Paris.

  • Application period: 16 June to 30 August 2026
  • Results announced: September 2026
  • Residency dates: 2 February to 27 April 2027
  • Open to artists and cultural practitioners of all nationalities
  • Must have been living and working in Indonesia for at least 7 years
  • Minimum 5 years of professional artistic experience
  • Work in visual arts, performance, sound and music research, performing arts, literature, design, or architecture/urbanism
  • Must communicate fluently in English or French
  • No age limit
  • Collective applications (duos, collectives) not eligible
  • Live-in studio at the Cité internationale des arts in the Marais district (20-35m²), furnished for both living and working
  • Monthly stipend of €1700 net of taxes
  • Round-trip international airfare from Indonesia to Paris
  • Travel insurance and visa costs covered
  • Professional support, networking opportunities, and organized encounters with program partners
  • Studio-apartments equipped with workspace, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area; can accommodate up to two adults and one child under 10 years old
  • Detailed curriculum vitae (maximum 4 pages, in French or English)
  • Portfolio of completed artistic projects (maximum 15 pages, in French or English) including visuals of works with full captions, and optionally video links or audio files (MP3, AVI)
  • Statement of intent (maximum 3 pages, in French or English) describing motivations for applying, interest in the residency, why the work requires a Paris residency at the Cité, and artistic, career, and professional network benefits
  • Google account required

Applications are reviewed by a jury composed of representatives from the programme partners. The jury evaluates candidates' professional backgrounds, artistic quality of the project, the value added by the Paris residency, and the proposed work plan. Particular attention is paid to applications from artists in regions remote from the archipelago's major urban centers.

  • Transport of works or experimental materials is not covered
  • A final report of the experience will be required at the end of the residency
