The 21st Bucharest International Jazz Competition welcomes instrumentalists, vocalists, and bands of all nationalities. The competition takes place July 2–10, 2027, in Bucharest, Romania.

  • Age limit: up to 45 years old (born after July 1, 1982); band leader may be older
  • Bands may have up to 6 performing musicians
  • Individual musicians may apply for the Jam Session section
  • All nationalities welcome
  • Registration deadline: March 1, 2027 (23:59)
  • Confirmation of registration: before March 30, 2027
  • Semi-final: July 2–8, 2027
  • Final and Gala: July 9–10, 2027
  • Application form (Annex A for band, Annex B for each member)
  • Audio recordings in mp3/mp4 format: 2–3 pieces of different styles
  • Two color group photos (landscape format, min 1MB each)
  • Bank confirmation of 140 Euro registration fee payment
  • Short presentation of group (max 10 lines, Word document)
  • Copy of passport or identity card for each group member
  • Technical rider

  • 1st Round: Selection panel evaluates applications and audio recordings
  • 2nd Round (July 2–8): Semi-finalists perform 50–60 minutes in concert hall, 50–60 minutes in unconventional space, and 60–80 minutes in jam sessions
  • 3rd Round (July 9–10): Finalists perform 30–40 minutes in concert hall and 30–40 minutes in unconventional space
  • Grand Prize Winner: 1,500 Euro
  • Best Band: 500 Euro
  • Best Vocalist: 500 Euro
  • Best Jam Session: 250 Euro
  • 2–3 concert engagements for one or two finalist bands
  • Diplomas for final performers (upon request)
  • Special prizes may be awarded by the jury

The organizers provide professional sound technician, sound system, and backline (drum kit, acoustic or digital piano, bass amplifier, guitar amplifier, microphones). Finalists receive free accommodation (only if previously accommodated through competition system). Semi-finalists can request special accommodation rates. Live or deferred broadcast is possible; participants consent to recording and transmission by applying.
