Overview
Kunsthalle Wien seeks an Assistant Curator to help shape its artistic programme. The role supports the full arc of exhibition work—planning, research, development, production, contextualization, and evaluation—while working closely with artists, curators, and exhibition producers.
Position Details
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Permanent contract
- €3,000 gross per month
- Flexible working time and optional home office
- Start: As soon as possible
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning, research, development, production, and evaluation of exhibitions
- Work closely with artists, curators, and exhibition producers
- Prepare exhibition texts, translations, editing in German and English
- Coordinate loan requests and exhibition documentation
- Support fundraising and sponsorship activities
- Participate in communications, marketing, and public programming
- Represent the institution in Vienna's contemporary art scene
- Assist with budgeting, scheduling, SketchUp models, and installation planning
Eligibility
- Completed subject-specific training or at least 1 year professional experience in contemporary art, preferably in a public institution
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
- Very good IT skills (MS Office); SketchUp knowledge preferred
- Excellent writing skills (demonstrated via required work sample, max. 1 page)
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team
- Accurate, structured, organized working style
- Team-oriented, communicative, flexible, and resilient under deadline pressure
