Award-winning performer and Arts Educator dedicated to sharing ethnic dance, theatre and visual cultural traditions from Afrika and the Afrikan Diaspora. Recipient of the 2023 MLK Drum Major Award. Artistic Director of Barbea Williams Performing Company (BWPC), in her 22nd year as Faculty in the School of Dance at the University of Arizona.
Program Focus
The company offers classes, workshops and residencies specializing in Afrikan and Afrikan Latino cultural expressions. Uses Dance, Choreography, Choreo-Poetry, Cultural Folklore, Spoken Word, and Story Dance to educate on past and current events with emphasis on social justice issues.
