Position
Associate Director at Artspeak, a non-profit artist-run center in Vancouver. Part-time, permanent position (24 hours/week) starting September 2026.
About Artspeak
Established in 1986, Artspeak is a registered charitable organization and exhibition and programming space that encourages dialogue between contemporary visual art and writing. Committed to intersectional participation and features work that crosses disciplinary boundaries, making visible the work of Black/African diasporic, Indigenous, and POC cultural practitioners. Produces innovative exhibitions and publications and platforms art criticism from underserved perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Director/Curator, the Associate Director provides organizational leadership in fundraising and development, administration, marketing and communications, project coordination, and facilities management. Oversees administrative operations including financial tracking, expense reporting, policy implementation, and record management. Leads communications strategies across print, digital, and social media. Coordinates exhibition production timelines, artist logistics, installation planning, public events, and institutional partnerships. Stewards gallery facilities and may supervise interns, volunteers, contractors, and temporary support staff.
Qualifications
Requires exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and demonstrated commitment to contemporary art, artist-run culture, and community engagement. Position contributes to fostering a collaborative and responsive organizational culture grounded in accessibility, care, accountability, and equity-informed cultural practices.
