The residency supports both emerging and established professionals working in any medium, by application or invitation, and is open to Irish and international applicants.
The residency generates a fresh creative space for participants at a crucial point in their career, provides access to Museum personnel and resources, and enables participants to leave with expanded possibilities, new networks, and potentially new works. Participants have opportunities to engage in public conversations and open studio events; artists can propose dissemination and manifestation of their practice through various contexts that may emerge during their residency.
Participants receive a studio and separate living space, all located onsite. Eight studios are available (four loft spaces and four large ground floor spaces). The Flanker Building, a communal house, has five bedrooms, two kitchens, and two bathrooms with ground floor wheelchair access. Three self-catering apartments are also available above some studios.
Located at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, the residency offers access to the Museum's Collection, Exhibitions, Education and Community Programmes, National Programme, Talks and Lectures, and 17th-century architecture and grounds. This provides a dynamic starting point for participants to expand and explore their studio practice.
