Overview
The City of Rancho Cucamonga seeks artists to design and install mini mural projects on select cement directional markers along the Pacific Electric Trail. The murals will be located at key intersections (Milliken Ave., Rochester Ave., and Day Creek Blvd.) and visible to vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. Selected designs should capture the spirit of Rancho Cucamonga's 50th Anniversary celebration while reflecting the city's unique character, history, stories, regional landscapes, and cultural traditions.
Project Details
- Three intersection locations with two directional markers each
- Each marker: approximately 18" wide by 36" tall (two sides) plus 20" by 20" top
- Murals will enhance aesthetic appeal, promote local artists, and support the RC Public Art Plan
Eligibility
- Professional artists 18 years or older
- Preference given to artists residing in the Inland Empire region
- Artist individuals or artist teams may apply

- Apply by October 22, 2026
Application Requirements
- Artist Statement of Interest (750 words maximum): address how your mural celebrates RC's 50th Anniversary, your public art mural experience, your process for incorporating community input, and how you'll complete project goals within budget and timeline
- Professional Resume + References (1,500 words maximum): current resume outlining professional accomplishments and three professional references with contact information (name, title, affiliation, phone, email)
- Digital Images (up to 10) of recent previous work created within the past 10 years, each with title and year
Media Requirements
- Minimum 5 images, maximum 10 images required
Award & Budget
Selected artist(s) will receive a $1,500.00 stipend per directional marker, inclusive of all design fees, supplies, fabrication, and time spent. Stipend distributed in two payments: $500 upon completion of artwork design concept and $1,000 upon completed installation. Selection and funding are contingent upon a signed agreement between the artist and the City.
