About
Overview
Braunschweig Projects offers 7 artistic fellowships on behalf of the State of Lower Saxony for 2027/28: 5 in fine arts and 2 in sound art. Fellows work on a project in the vicinity of HBK Braunschweig and are expected to make a significant contribution toward the further development of forms of artistic practice. Each fellow is assigned a mentor (a fine arts professor chosen by the fellow) and has access to artistic discourse with all professors in the fine arts department.

Eligibility
- Completed art degree required
- Most recent studies completed after 31 March 2016 and before 1 April 2023
- Proof of extensive artistic practice and exhibition participation
- Cannot receive regular payments from third parties (residence, salary, work scholarships) or state subsidy during funding period
- Cannot apply for both fine arts and sound art scholarships simultaneously
- International applications welcome

Costs & Financial Obligations

- Monthly contribution toward incidental living costs: €250 per month
- Fellows must reside at HBK for at least 8 months during lecture periods

- Artistic profile file (max. 15MB) including name, website, social media handles, artist statement (max. 350 words), brief project description (max. 350 words), portfolio of 10–15 works, short CV with prizes, exhibitions, fellowships, and links to 3 video/audio files with password-free access
- Diploma for most recent university art degree or certified German translation (PDF, max. 1MB; file name: Surname, First name_Degree)

Expectations & Obligations
Fellows are expected to participate in Welcome Weeks (19–30 April 2027) and a joint final presentation in January/February 2028 culminating in a joint final exhibition. At the end of the fellowship, fellows must submit a short final report of approximately 1 page and contribute to the joint final exhibition.
