About
Overview
The Town of Silverthorne Art Board seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to design and install an original mural on the indoor wall adjacent to the east end of the indoor track at the Silverthorne Recreation Center. The mural should celebrate Silverthorne's landscape, energy, and active lifestyle through a bold, dynamic design that inspires movement and connection.
Project Details
The wall is approximately 83 feet long and 12 feet high (approximately 996 square feet). The mural should cover at least 75% of this area and can wrap around the left corner. A 4'x4' area in the far-left corner, about 2 feet up from the floor, must be reserved for medicine balls and should be painted black or left out of the artwork.
Themes & Inspiration
- Silverthorne's geography: incorporate maps, topographic lines, or references to the local landscape and surrounding mountains
- The Blue River as a central visual element, emphasizing movement and connection
- Bringing the outdoors in: show views from outside the track area
- Vibrant, colorful, bright, and energizing designs
- Strength, balance, and wellness
- Rhythmic elements reflecting adrenaline or heartbeat to initiate flow state
- Mixed media within painted murals, including graphic collage, photographs, relief elements, topography, etc.
