Art Omi invites artists, critics, and curators from around the world to gather in rural New York for a 4-week international residency program. Each session hosts two dozen international artists, along with two critics/curators who facilitate discussions and studio visits. The residency emphasizes creative work, cultural exchange, critical appraisal, and direct engagement with the New York City art world through a Visitors Program. The residency culminates in an Open Studios event.

Located on 300 acres in the Hudson River Valley, 2.5 hours north of New York City, near Ghent and Hudson, NY. Facilities include a two-story barn with indoor studios, contemporary residence buildings, a Federal Period farmhouse serving as a gathering center with kitchen and library, sculpture and architecture park, swimming pool, and WiFi access. Work spaces include indoor and protected outdoor studios, a kiln, basic hand tools, and equipment. All meals provided.

  • Professional artists worldwide with at least 5 years of professional experience as an exhibiting artist

  • Must be 18+ years old at time of application
  • Not currently enrolled in BFA or MFA programs (PhD students and those in non-arts master's programs are eligible)
  • Work must have been created in the past 10 years
  • Alumni not eligible for return residency

  • Resume/CV reflecting at least 5 years of demonstrated art practice
  • Short biography in narrative form

  • 8 images OR 3 video excerpts (up to 1 minute each) OR 5 images and 1 video
