Get matched →ALCHEMY is an artist-led international residency offering artists time and space to explore the intersections of creative practice, place and community. Through dedicated studio time, site-specific exploration, lively salon-style suppers and conversation, participants are invited to deepen their practice while learning from one another in a respectful and supportive environment. Founded in 2015 on the Toronto Islands, Alchemy’s pillars are food, art, garden, and table, inspired by the original gardens and long-standing creative community at the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts. Alchemy creates opportunities for artists to make and share art, food and conversation with community members and visiting artists. Artists whose practices explore the intersections of art, food, collective well-being, and community — or those who are curious about how these ideas can inform their work—are especially encouraged to apply.
The residency takes place at the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts, a peaceful artist centre nestled within the park on the Toronto Islands, the largest car-free community in North America, 15 minutes by ferry from downtown Toronto.
