Overview
An artistic exchange program between Quebec and Scotland facilitated by four organizations: Fonderie Darling, Matapédia Jonction Pôle – Gare de Matapédia, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, and Hospitalfield. The program supports two visual artists simultaneously, promoting ongoing conversation between cultural centers rooted in their communities and focused on innovative practices.
Program Details
Each artist laureate will experience both urban and rural settings. In Quebec, the artist spends one month in residency at the Gare de Matapédia, a new artistic and community center in a train station in Gaspésie. In Scotland, the artist participates in a group residency at Hospitalfield, an arts organization established in 1901 based in the coastal town of Arbroath. Various events, public and professional meetings, studio visits, and cultural excursions are organized throughout the stay. Both artists meet at the start of residencies, with staggered dates.
About the Partners
Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop and Fonderie Darling share a strong commitment to artistic creation and production, support dissemination through exhibition spaces, and host numerous artists. Both have strong connections to their architecture and heritage, international reach, and programming affirming commitment to experimental and exploratory practices.
