SARUYA AIR is a research-based residency program in Fujiyoshida, Japan, welcoming artists, designers, writers, photographers, and researchers interested in developing experimental and process-oriented practices through fieldwork, material research, publishing, and interaction with local weaving culture.

SARUYA AIR provides accommodation, shared workspaces, RISO STUDIO access, and basic local support. Residents are responsible for travel, food, materials, and daily living expenses. Production costs, specialized equipment, translation support, and material expenses are not included unless otherwise discussed in advance. SARUYA AIR is not a large-scale fabrication facility.

Residents are expected to actively develop their own research, experimentation, or creative practice during the residency. While no finalized outcome is required, residents are encouraged to engage with the local environment, industry, and everyday life through fieldwork, observation, and conversation. Sharing aspects of process or research through informal presentations, artist talks, open studios, publications, or workshops is encouraged.
