Silkscreen Workshop

Overview

MeetFactory offers a silkscreen printing workshop open to ages 12 and up. The workshop is for 1 person but couples may attend together. You will experience the entire screen printing process, from preparing the stencil on the screen to printing and washing the photo emulsion from the screen. The time commitment is approximately 4 hours. Workshops are English friendly.

What to Expect

You can print on both paper and fabric. Maximum 4 colours; each colour prints separately. Bring your own papers/quarters (white paper available for test prints), or bring your own fabric if printing on textiles. You may get paint splattered; an apron or shirt will be provided. Bring a plate or tube to take your prints home.

Pricing & Image Preparation

• 2000 CZK without documents for illumination – you submit your image to the lecturer no later than one week before the workshop for her to prepare it graphically.
• 1500 CZK with your own materials for illumination – you prepare templates yourself and submit the image one week in advance for approval. Templates must have each coloured part of the image separately in black. You can: use a graphics program, draw on transparency film with a black opaque marker (e.g., Edding) at home, or draw on-site in the workshop. You may also cut black paper as a collage/photogram.

• 7 working days in advance: 100% refund
• Less than 7 working days in advance: 50% refund

About the Lecturer

Gabriela Zajícová (born 1991) is a visual artist who draws, paints, and prints under the pseudonym Gabu Milford. She studied animation at UMPRUM and has lived around the world. She has her own screen printing machine and will guide participants through the entire workshop process.
