Overview
Sign up for Fall 2026 classes offered by The School of Making Thinking at Abrons Arts Center. Classes will run as 2-hour weekly sessions from 6-8pm for four weeks. All participants will gather on Friday, October 30, 2026 for a culminating convening and pizza party.
Course Offerings
- EXTRACTION, COLOR, TRADE with Megumi Shuana Arai—Mondays, 6-8pm, Sept 28–Oct 26. Explores social, political, and economic stories behind four dye materials: logwood, woad, cochineal, and kakishibu.
- WITHOUT PERMISSION: PERFORMING IN THE STREETS with Gianfranco Reyes—Tuesdays, 6-8pm, Oct 6–27. Examines how cities become places for making and performing, exploring site responsiveness, anonymity, surveillance, mimicry, and public space limits.
- ALL MY ANCESTORS ARE TRANSGENDER: HOW TO CREATE A CHOSEN FAMILY ARCHIVE with Kenny Shiloh Russell—Wednesdays, 6-8pm, Oct 7–28. Create a physical archive preserving Queer life and receive a starter archival kit.
- POP THAT @ THE EDGE OF THE WORLD with Joy Norton and Kiki Mills—Thursdays, 6-8pm, Oct 8–29. Explore cultural memory, harm reduction, Afro-pessimist imagination, and communal survival preparedness for those imagining a post-collapse world.
Dates & Location
Classes take place in person at Abrons Arts Center, New York, NY. All classes run weekly from September 28 through October 29, with a final convening on October 30, 2026.
