Appel à projets de création Montpellier-Sete-Beziers - Mécènes du sud

Overview

Since 2017, the Mécènes du Sud collective has supported contemporary creation. Each year a project call is launched. Support is granted for the production of a new artwork to be completed by September 2028 that requires real backing to be realized or developed. Projects may optionally be presented in the gallery space at 13 rue des Balance in Montpellier.

• Submission deadline: Friday, June 5, 2026, 5:00 PM
• Jury decision: Late July 2026
• Event meeting (Journée du projet Coup de Cœur): December 12, 2026

Eligibility & selection criteria

• Artist or presenter must have a connection to the territory: from Béziers (west) to Nîmes (east), Cévennes (north) to coast (south). Connection includes: working there, living there, studying there, being from there, or developing a project through residency, exhibition, study, or active network
• Project must be a new artwork production
• Must be completed before September 2028
• Must require real support from Mécènes du Sud to be realized or developed

Award & budget

• Grant amount proposed by the artist/presenter, ranging historically from €1,000 to €15,000 (average around €5,000)
• Mécènes du Sud may be sole funder or co-funder
• Selected artists present their project at the Journée du projet Coup de Cœur (December 12); travel costs covered by Mécènes du Sud

Jury

Projects are reviewed by: Mohamed Almusibli (Director and Chief Curator, Kunsthalle Basel), Carine Harmand (Art Historian and Exhibition Curator, Tate Liverpool, UK), Guslagie Malanda (Actress and Independent Exhibition Curator), Jimmy Robert (Artist and Professor, Berlin University of the Arts, UdK), and Nicolas Trembley (Curator, The Syz Collection, Geneva).
