Artist in Residency Program (2027)

Overview

The Bryn Du Artist in Residence program provides an inspirational setting for the creation of artistic works by one artist at a time, of any discipline. The program aims to enhance local awareness and engagement in the arts by introducing new and varied artists to the Granville community. Artists will reside in a newly-renovated cottage behind the Bryn Du Mansion and participate in community engagement activities.

Key Dates

• Application window: June 1 – August 31 (for residencies in the following calendar year)
• Submission deadline: August 31, 2026
• Residency seasons available: Winter (Jan–March), Summer (June–August), Fall (September–November)
• Residency length: 8 or 12 weeks

Eligibility

• Open nationwide to US citizens
• 18 years of age or older
• Any stage of career
• Spouses/partners allowed for full stay (non-collaborators)

Discipline & Focus

Open to all artistic disciplines including visual arts, literature, music, theatre, fashion, dance, storytelling, audiovisual studies, and many others.

Stipend & Fees

• $2,000 stipend for 8-week residency
• $3,000 stipend for 12-week residency
• $25 non-refundable application fee

Community Engagement

All artists in residence are expected to provide a minimum of 2 community engagement activities per month, which will be agreed upon by Bryn Du and the artist prior to the residency.

Housing & Facilities

• Private housing on campus (individual cottage)
• Partially accessible (50% or more)
• Washer and dryer provided
• No meals provided
• Exhibition/installation space available
• Performance/presentation facilities available
