The travel grant enables participation in the Austrian Museum Day for young professionals active or wishing to become active in the museum and cultural sector without institutional affiliation or financial support.

  • Two lump-sum grants of €400 each to contribute toward travel and accommodation expenses
  • Students and graduates in relevant fields of study
  • Independent cultural workers, curators, and museum educators/mediators
  • Individuals in the orientation or early-career phase
  • Career changers with a demonstrable connection to the museum sector
  • Age 35 or younger
  • Residence and primary place of professional activity in Austria
  • No permanent employment contract in the museum sector, or no possibility of institutional funding or reimbursement of costs (self-declaration sufficient)
  • Demonstrable motivation to work in or engage with the museum sector
  • Application deadline: 31 August 2026
  • Applicants notified: 7 September 2026

Complete the short application form by 31 August 2026. Eligible candidates will be selected by random draw.

Selected recipients must submit a short report on participation in the Austrian Museum Day (maximum 5,000 characters, including spaces).

Eligibility
Applicants must be 35 years or younger, reside in and have primary professional activity in Austria, have no permanent employment contract in the museum sector or institutional funding possibility, and demonstrate motivation to work in the museum sector.
Priority given to
Students, graduates, early-career, or career changers in museum sector
Audience
Students and graduates in relevant fields; independent cultural workers, curators, and museum educators/mediators; individuals in orientation or early-career phase; career changers with demonstrable connection to the museum sector; age 35 or younger.
