Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) offers a Curator Residency Program for distinguished curators, art critics, and cultural researchers from around the world. Selected curators will conduct research in Tokyo, present their work, and mentor emerging local creators.

  • Application deadline (documents): July 2, 2024, 18:00 JST
  • Application deadline (materials): July 9, 2024, 23:00 JST
  • Residency periods: May–July 2025, September–November 2025, or January–March 2026

Residency lasts 1 to 3 months. TOKAS Residency is located in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, an area with historic culture and access to museums, galleries, and cultural venues.

  • Living space (single room)
  • Roundtrip economy class airfare from your nearest airport to Tokyo
  • Fee for research and project work

International curators, art critics, and cultural researchers are eligible. The program seeks distinguished and highly motivated individuals.

  • Selected curators must give mentoring sessions to local emerging creators
  • Must deliver a public talk (Curator Talk or Open Studio Talk)
