About
Overview
¡Encantada! is an annual juried exhibition promoting the sale of original paintings, drawings, artisan prints, collage, sculpture, metalwork, woodwork, ceramics, batik, weaving, jewelry, or other 2D or 3D artwork. Sponsored by Rio Grande Art Association (RGAA), a nonprofit dedicated to the education and promotion of fine art in New Mexico. All styles welcome—traditional, representational, abstract, contemporary, and avant-garde.

- Opening reception & awards ceremony: Friday, November 6, 2026, 5:30–7:30 pm
- Exhibition open to public: Saturday, November 7–Sunday, November 29, 2026 (Thursday–Sunday, 10:00 am–5:00 pm)
- Exhibition closed Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thanksgiving
Eligibility
RGAA membership is required for entry. Dues must be paid in full before submitting and remain current through November 30, 2026 or later. Artists must be 18 or older. All work must be original, produced within the last two years, not previously exhibited in RGAA-sponsored shows, and submitted as available for sale.
Media Accepted
Original paintings, drawings, artisan prints (lithographs, etchings, engravings, silkscreens, monotypes), collage, sculpture, metalwork, woodwork, ceramics, batik, weaving, jewelry, and other 2D or 3D artwork. Computer-generated, AI, digital artwork, photography, and giclee prints are not accepted.
Artwork Requirements
At least 80% of the artwork surface or form must be hand-worked. Pre-embossed or pre-printed images are ineligible. Work must be original in concept and executed solely by the entering artist. No artwork done under instructor guidance is accepted. Copyright laws must not be violated. All artwork must be gallery-ready at delivery (fully dry, etc.).
Size & Display Requirements
- Standard 2D: unframed max 50" × 72", min 108 sq in (9" × 12"); frame width max 4"; min sale price $250
- Small 2D: unframed max 80 sq in (8" × 10"); frame width max 3"; no minimum size
- Gallery-wrapped canvases: min 1.5" depth, painted on all four sides
- 2D artwork: professionally framed or gallery-wrapped, ready to hang with D-rings and picture wire (peak at 3.5" from top); pastel may be framed under glass only
- 3D artwork: floor display or pedestals as provided
Awards
- Standard 2D: $1,000 first place, $700 second place, $500 third place
- Small 2D: $500 first place, $325 second place, $275 third place
- 3D Artwork: $500 first place, $325 second place, $275 third place
- Several merit awards will be given in all categories
Participation Requirements
Volunteering on show committee or hosting (sitting) the show at the venue is required for all artists with accepted work, unless they live farther than 50 miles from ExpoNM. Artists unable to volunteer or host may do a buyout for $40.
