Get matched →The artist residency program (AIR) is designed for visual artists, musicians, writers, architects, clay artists, performers, and other makers. It is a self-directed residency, where artists have full access to studio spaces of all kinds (visual art, music, movement, writing, etc.) throughout the vast and beautiful campus that includes a natural park in process of about 230 acres. Artists are given the space, freedom, and encouragement to explore and experiment with their work. The backbone of ArteSumapaz is the community created here of artists, makers, and environmentalists who often gain inspiration from one another, and enjoy lively and interesting discussions.

ArteSumapaz welcomes artists from a wide range of disciplines, such as visual arts, sculpture, ceramics, dance, theater, printmaking, performing arts, music, writing, film, architecture, and educational programs.
We offer a variety of studios and workspaces for artists, including: Shared painting studio, shared 3D studio, shared movement studio, two private rooms for writers, shared music studio. At the beginning of each month, we review the needs of each resident and assign workspaces based on their practice, ensuring that everyone has an adequate space to work.
Each artist decides how to employ their time. We offer three vegetarian meals a day and simply ask that each resident clears their plate after each meal. Artists are cordially invited to participate in weekly art critiques, impart workshops, or organize exhibitions, but none of this is mandatory. The only mandatory meeting is our weekly community meeting, which is held at lunchtime. We also ask artists to respect community and house rules, which contribute to making the experience enriching and enjoyable for all.
