Overview
CESTA is a cultural exchange station founded in 1993 in Tábor, Czech Republic. Once a vibrant hub for international artistic exchange, it is relaunching as a venue for artistic residencies of all types. The space welcomes residents across all disciplines: music, dance, theater, visual arts, and literature.
Location & Access
Located in Tábor in a quiet area surrounded by fields and forests, yet within walking distance of the old town center and easily accessible from Prague.
Facilities
The CESTA building includes a large barn/theatre (with possibility of complete darkness, tatami mats available), kitchen, dining room, office, recording studio, rehearsal room, common room with library, enclosed yard, workshop, and cellar/bar. A 1,300 m² community garden, skateboard ramp, and adjacent valley area are also available.
Accommodation
Shared accommodation options include: 1 room for 3 people, 2 rooms for 6 people, 1 room for up to 10 people, open floor (min. capacity 50), trailer, and garden camping. Shared toilet and bathroom facilities.
Services
Breakfast optional; half board or full board available. Rental of sound equipment, simple lighting, video projector, and tatami mats for movement workshops. Additional services available by prior arrangement.
Heating & Recommended Season
Heating is available only via individual wood-burning stoves. The period April–October is recommended as optimum.
