Résidence EXTRA 2027 – Livre-objet, architecture et pédagogie

Overview

EXTRA association invites applications for its 2027 residency focused on the intersection of publishing, architecture, and pedagogy. Hosted at Fabrique POLA in Bordeaux, the residency aims to create a book-object that experiments with and transmits reflection on architectural, landscape, graphic, or corporeal space. Four weeks of research and creation, distributed between January and June 2027, combined with public engagement activities.

Eligibility

Open to artists, architects, landscape architects, urban planners, graphic designers, authors, and other professionals interested in spatial questions. Individual, duo, or collective applications welcome. No geographic restrictions.

Project requirements

• Project must intersect architecture, publishing, and pedagogy, directly or indirectly
• Project must be original and unpublished
• Project must not have had a prior publishing contract
• Applicant must be available full-time during residency periods
• Target audience for public engagement must be defined by applicant: early childhood, school-age, seniors, or other relevant public

Award & support

• €6,000 residency award, paid in three installments according to residency schedule
• Materials costs covered up to €500, with receipts
• Travel costs covered up to €1,000, with receipts and priority for sustainable mobility
• Accommodation provided during residency weeks (max 2 people for collective applications)
• Access to workspace at Fabrique POLA
• Access to Fabrique POLA resources
• Mentorship from EXTRA in research and public engagement experiments
• Presentation and promotion of work at host venue
• Possibility of publishing the book-object after residency, subject to specific contract with EXTRA
