Hong Kong-based early-career artists are invited to submit a narrative biography, CV, work portfolio, and statement of interest for a one- to two-month residency at HANGAR in Lisbon, Portugal.

Para Site announces a new international residency opportunity for early-career artists residing in Hong Kong in partnership with HANGAR, Lisbon, and Triangle Network. The residency enables artists to live and work in Lisbon for one to two months, engaging with the local art scene through studio visits, talks, open studio days, and collaborative activities.

Hong Kong-based early-career artists working in any discipline are eligible. Priority is given to artists with less than 8 years of demonstrable professional practice or those with no extensive overseas experience.

  • Application deadline: 2 March 2026 (Monday) at 10 AM (Hong Kong time)
  • Results announced: Late March 2026
  • Residency period: September to October 2026 (residencies structured on a monthly basis; ideal periods commence at the beginning of each month)
  • Narrative Biography (not to exceed 300 words)
  • Curriculum Vitae (no more than 2 pages, include personal website link if applicable)
  • Work Portfolio (images and texts; for video, provide links; not to exceed 10 pages)
  • Statement of Interest (not to exceed 500 words) indicating preferred residency date/period
  • Accommodation with private kitchen and WC
  • Shared studio/working space (Painting Room, Dark Room, Music Studio, Library)
  • Curatorial support and tutorials
  • Studio visits, local art space visits, and open studio day
  • Stipend of HKD 12,000 per month
  • Travel budget of HKD 5,000 per month
  • Return flight covered by Para Site
  • Organize two sharing sessions (open studio, talk, or other formats) at HANGAR and upon return to Hong Kong
  • Submit a final report (maximum 1,000 words with images) on the residency experience within two months of completion
  • Actively participate in programme and activities organized by HANGAR
  • The relevance, importance, and interest of the artist's research and artistic practice in relation to Lisbon's context
  • The artist's artistic background or research experience

Award
