Get matched →La Filature, a contemporary art venue in Charolais-Brionnais, invites a curator, alone or in a duo, to conceive and produce an exhibition centered on the theme of water. This exhibition marks the beginning of a new cycle dedicated to the major issues of our time. The exhibition space is 800 m², featuring numerous north-facing glass roofs and a garden bordering a river, with the mill's race still in water (except during droughts).
La Filature is a contemporary art venue located in Varennes-sous-Dun, in Charolais-Brionnais. It is a former wool spinning mill (1889-2022) built on a Renaissance mill, which was powered by water for three centuries. The association that has run it since 2023 is committed to contemporary art in a rural setting, at the heart of industrial heritage. Through 11 exhibitions, it has explored various forms, including a panorama of fifty regional artists with "Opus 50" (2023), photography with "Improbable certitude" (2024), and a monographic exhibition with Frédéric Diart (2025). In 2026, two directions emerged: contemporary textile creation with Delphine Dénéreaz's "Habiter les étoiles de Bethléem," and exhibitions that pose a question rather than a theme, such as "Quand l’art oublie son nom," on art and madness.
