The Funarte Drama Award - 200 Years of Arts is seeking to stimulate dramatic literature through the award of thirty unpublished theatrical texts. Works must address the theme of arts in the context of Brazil's Bicentennial of Independence (1822-2022). The selection process will honor texts from national authors in two categories: fifteen adult theater plays and fifteen children's and youth theater plays. In each category, three works from each of the five regions of the country will be awarded. Selected works will be published in an online collection on Funarte's website.

Only individuals may compete: Brazilian nationals or naturalized foreigners, age 18 or older. Legal entities of any kind are not eligible. Works must be original and unpublished; handwritten texts, posthumous works, and adaptations are not accepted. Each competitor may participate with only one original piece, choosing only one of the two categories.

Four criteria will be considered in the evaluation of works: approach to the theme of 200 Years of Arts in Brazil - Bicentennial of Brazilian Independence; text structure and language; originality; and potential for staging.
