Get matched →Fructôse is launching a call for applications for a research and creation workshop, from March 6 to 11, 2027, in its studios located in Dunkerque. Led by curator Marie Plagnol, this workshop is an experimental format of collective work, enriched by exchanges with external speakers. All participating artists are present on site for the duration of the workshop.
The alliteration of the workshop's title, 'Consonances, dissonances, résonances', evokes the interplay between consonance (affinity between sounds), dissonance (lack of harmony in sounds or ideas), and resonance (how a space restitutes sound, or what evokes a response in someone). Through these definitions, the workshop will vocalize and explore diverse consonances and dissonances (sound, emotional, cognitive, institutional, etc.) to interrogate their possible resonances. This proposal arises from an inquiry into the curator's voice in collaborative projects, mediating between initial address, context, and expressing voices. Drawing on personal and participant experiences, the workshop will consider how socially engaged artistic practices intersect with power dynamics, representation, and institutional contexts. Echoing Chantal Mouffe, the goal is to create spaces for listening and understanding, without erasing dissonances in favor of consonance. Some attempts may be shared during a public program imagined for the restitution.
