About Elsewhere Studios

Elsewhere Studios sits in Paonia, Colorado—a town of 1,500 in the North Fork Valley where the desert meets the mountains, surrounded by orchards, farms, and vineyards. Three to four residents live here at a time in a shared household with private rooms, a shared kitchen and commons, a 360 sq ft main studio with high ceilings, easels, a lofted library, slop sink, and screen printing equipment. A terraced garden with an irrigation ditch runs out back. Ceramics access is available at Paonia Clayworks down the road, featuring wheels, a slab roller, and kilns including raku.

Housing Options

• The Suite (top floor with its own studio and private bath with clawfoot tub)
• The Loft (right off the commons and studio)
• The Gingerbread House (a wood-stove cabin in the backyard)

Program Details

Artists come for one to three months. Residents share their work through Final Friday open studios and a presentation in the main studio. Open to visual artists, writers, composers, musicians, performers, scientists, activists, teachers, and students at any stage of career.

Eligibility

• Open to artists based anywhere in the world
• Any stage of career
• Individuals must apply and be accepted separately (collaborative teams must each apply individually)
• Pets are not allowed

Fees

• The Sweet Suite: $1,100–$1,600 per month
• The Loft Room: $950–$1,300 per month
• The Gingerbread House: $950–$1,300 per month

• Program runs: November 2026 through April 2027
• Stay length: 1–3 months
