The Jazz Touring Network (JTN) is a presenter-based membership program supporting professional development, building partnerships, and curating tours that reflect the richness of the field of jazz. JTN welcomes both organizations with little or no experience presenting jazz and seasoned presenters seeking to strengthen programming. Once selected, membership is ongoing upon meeting annual requirements.

Applicants must be located in Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, West Virginia, and the Native nations that share this geography; be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or a unit of state or local government or Federally recognized Indian tribal government; be in good standing with Mid Atlantic Arts with no overdue or outstanding required reports and/or grant documents; and have at least a three-year continuous history of offering multiple presentations by touring artists each season.

  • Performance grants up to $4,000 not to exceed 50% of the fee for any given engagement
  • Travel grant covering majority of expenses related to attendance at the Annual JTN Meeting
  • Additional $500 grant for lead presenters developing tours
  • Attend the JTN Annual Meeting in full
  • Submit at least one artist nomination for consideration
  • Participate in at least one network block-booked tour

Members collaboratively develop JTN tours through a nomination and voting process. Selected tours must consist of a minimum of two JTN members from two different jurisdictions within the mid-Atlantic region. Funded engagements must include at least one public performance as well as a community engagement activity that creates deeper appreciation for the performance, artist, and/or genre of jazz.

Performance grants are for engagements occurring July 1 through June 30 of the given program year. Initial payment of 90% is released upon review and execution of grant award agreement and submission of counter-signed contract with artist no later than 30 days prior to engagement start. Final report must be completed through the grant portal no later than 30 days after project completion.
