The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council seeks to purchase two pieces of artwork for the new Second Creek Farm Park. The artwork will be placed in a new 7-acre park featuring play equipment for children ages 2-5 and 5-12, a ninja course, shaded picnic areas, an amphitheater with lawn, and a restroom. The park is set to be completed in Q3 of 2026. The base for the artwork is 8' in diameter.

  • Artists who reside in Colorado or the Colorado Region (Colorado and neighboring states of Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona)
  • Artwork should be educational and interactive, appropriate for all ages, safe and durable for visitors to climb or interact with
  • Artwork should enhance playful colors and shapes, celebrate Commerce City's diverse history, and evoke joy and delight
  • Up to 5 digital images (at least one conceptual sketch; include dimensions for each work)
  • Estimated project budget
  • Artist statement including your background, interest in Commerce City, materials and durability, and social media/website handles
  • Submission deadline: Tuesday, September 1, 2026 11:59 p.m. MST
  • Late-September 2026: Notify semi-finalists
  • Late-September/Early October 2026: Semi-finalist interviews
  • Week of October 19, 2026: Cultural Council review, notify finalists
  • Week of November 16, 2026: City Council review, notify finalists
  • November/December 2026: Execute contract
  • Early 2027: Installation
