Español News BIENNALE DI VENEZIA MARKET Interviews Galleries Reviews Residences Open Calls Architecture PINTA MAC PANAMÁ LAUNCHES AN INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION The museum seeks to reaffirm its leadership as a cultural institution and its commitment to a more sustainable, inclusive, and creative future for the country and the region. Application deadline: March 29, 2026. March 10, 2026 Closed Courtesy of MAC Panamá The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá (MAC Panamá) has announced an international architecture competition to design its new headquarters—an initiative that marks a key moment in the institution’s history and reinforces Panama’s projection as a cultural reference in Latin America. Applications will remain open until March 29. With more than six decades of history, MAC Panamá has established itself as the country’s leading institution dedicated to modern and contemporary art. The new building is part of a broader institutional expansion strategy aimed at strengthening its role as a center for artistic creation, education, and critical thought, while also deepening its ties with the local and international artistic community. The competition invites architects and multidisciplinary teams from around the world to envision a building that engages in dialogue with the city of Panama City. The proposal should reflect values such as inclusion, sustainability, openness, and social commitment. Rather than a traditional museum building, the project is conceived as an active cultural infrastructure integrated into the urban fabric and capable of energizing public life through art. The development of this new headquarters also aims to encourage cross-disciplinary exchange, promote research in architecture, and strengthen Panama’s presence within the international contemporary art circuit.
