About the Artist
Born in 1952 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Akihide Nakao began his artistic career 50 years ago. He studied ceramics in Tajimi, a city renowned for its clay deposits and for Oribe and Shino styles. His works evoke the drip technique of abstract expressionism while blending the Oribe spirit, marked by sharper contrasts and celebration of Japanese folk pottery traditions.
