American Art Catalogues is seeking a part-time gallery assistant to work three days per week (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 12:00–7:00 p.m.) for 21 hours per week.

  • Gallery Operations: opening and closing procedures, maintaining a clean gallery space, coordinating press previews and exhibition openings, supporting general gallery administration
  • Orders, Shipping & Distribution: fulfilling Shopify orders, packing and shipping, generating shipping labels, assembling and shipping press packs, conducting outreach to prospective bookstores and stockists
  • Press, Marketing & Digital Communications: drafting and editing press releases, newsletters, and social media posts; developing and maintaining social media calendar; monitoring social media performance; assembling and distributing exhibition press packs to media outlets including Artforum, Contemporary Art Library, and See Saw; updating gallery website and exhibition listings; maintaining press contact lists
  • Database & Recordkeeping: maintaining accurate records of artworks, inventory, and sales; entering and updating information in art and collection management systems such as ARTERNAL; maintaining digital and physical archives; implementing and maintaining the gallery's file-naming system

1–2 years of experience in a gallery, museum, or arts-related setting required. Must be highly organized, dependable, and attentive to detail.
