Overview
Soulangh Cultural Park Artists-in-Residence Program welcomes international artists in visual art, performance, and interdisciplinary disciplines. The program fosters artistic growth and international exchange in a transformed historic sugar factory venue in Jiali, approximately 45 minutes from downtown Tainan.

What We Accept
- Visual art, performance, and interdisciplinary art
- Disciplines: blacksmithing, book arts, ceramics/clay arts/pottery, drawing, environmental arts, graphic design, illustration, installation arts, landscape architecture, mixed media, painting, photography, playwriting, printmaking, public art, screenwriting, sculpture, woodworking
- Teams may apply for collaborative residency
Application Requirements
Submit a residency project plan based on the theme. Applicants are encouraged to use Tainan's rich cultural assets and incorporate the environment of Soulangh in outdoor works. Demonstrate ability to perform field research and independently plan and manage residency projects.
Fees & Funding
- Residency fee: 90,000 New Taiwan Dollar (TWD)
- Travel stipend: 150,000 New Taiwan Dollar (TWD)
- Living expenses grant: up to NT$72,000 (maximum NT$800/day for up to 90 days; includes tax)
- Exhibition production fees grant: up to NT$18,000 (maximum NT$200/day for up to 90 days; includes tax)
- Materials budget: up to NT$150,000 (VAT included)
- Selected artists must pay stamp duty (0.1% of grant amount)
Housing & Studio Facilities
- Private bedroom in shared housing facility on campus (no room charge; utility bills and showering facilities included; personal items not provided)
- Wheelchair-accessible, air-conditioned modern studio spaces
- Free bicycle provided
- Exhibition space with lighting rails, wooden partitions, air conditioning, and equipment
- Shared artist studio with tables, chairs, and room partitions
- Access to multimedia devices for exhibition (projectors, monitors, speakers, lights)
- Hardware tools for artwork creation (electric drills, etc.)
Residency Expectations
- Hold one achievement exhibition of your work
- Lead at least one parent-child workshop or open studio day at Soulangh Cultural Park before residency end
- Participate in open studio with fellow residents
