About the Role
The TD Assistant Curator will work closely with the AGM's Senior Curator and Education & Programming Manager. The position involves a range of installation, planning, development, engagement, outreach, and management activities, providing the full experience of working for a small-to-midsized public gallery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in exhibition development (research, coordination, didactic material)
- Oversee exhibition-related programming and outreach activities for diverse audiences
- Lead exhibition tours for community groups
- Support research and presentation of the permanent collection
- Advance strategies for accessibility and reducing barriers to access
- Conduct research on cultural groups and organizations in Mississauga for potential engagement
- Assist with workshops, events, and annual fundraising gala
- Engage in staff meetings, grants, and sponsorship requests
- Liaise with local cultural organizations and regional galleries
- Contribute to developing funder and partnership opportunities
- Undertake other relevant duties as required
Eligibility Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Art History, History, Museum Studies, or equivalent combination of education and lived experience
- Black, Indigenous, a Person of Colour, or representative of an underserved community
- Resides in Mississauga or has significant ties to the area
- Gallery experience in curatorial and education programming
- Solid background in and knowledge of contemporary art practices

- Ability to travel within Mississauga and provide own transportation (preferred but not required)
