The Robert McLaughlin Gallery strives to provide an environment without barriers to participation and welcomes comments and suggestions from the community. Contact the gallery at [email protected] or 905-576-3000 with accessibility questions or needs.

  • Building and backyard are physically accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers
  • Elevator provides access to all floors
  • Ramps on either side of the entrance
  • One manual wheelchair available onsite
  • Hearing assistive technology with pairing capabilities for telecoil hearing aids and headphones for events and studio classes
  • Document cameras to assist with visual impairments in studio classes
  • Hearing loop at reception desk (always active for telecoil hearing aid users)
  • Large print copies of text, labels, and extended information for all exhibitions
  • Variety of chairs available throughout the gallery; special chairs with arms, sturdy metal chairs, or stools available upon request
  • ASL interpretation available upon request with sufficient advance notice
  • Strobe effects noted prior to exhibition entry
  • Sound exhibitions accompanied by written text in the exhibition space

Small lounge area on the third floor provides a quiet rest space during visits.

Customers with disabilities accompanied by a service animal are allowed access to public premises. Support persons may enter with customers and both may sit together. The RMG will waive or notify support persons of participation fees in advance.

Accessible digital and non-digital communication is provided upon request at no additional cost. Feedback can be provided in person, by phone, e-mail, or social media. Customers providing formal feedback will receive acknowledgement and information about resulting actions.

The RMG will provide advance notice of temporary service disruptions through notices at accessible entrances, website updates, and customer contact. Emergency and public safety information will be provided in accessible formats upon request.
