The Impetus and Deepening (I&V) regulation supports Rotterdam-based visual artists with a time-based grant for a deepening activity or innovative impulse within their art practice. The grant is awarded as a stipend for time to work on a clearly defined artistic question or objective during a bounded period.

  • Possess Art Office login credentials
  • Have an active artist page at Art Office, current as of the application date

A work period or project with a clearly described artistic question and artistic objective. The artistic quality of the project and its expected artistic impact on the artist's development will be evaluated by an expert advisory commission.

Maximum grant of €7,500. The subsidy is intended as a time stipend for the artist; the amount depends on project duration.

  • Round 2, 2026: Application deadline 21 September 2026, 11:00 (form opens 10 August 2026, 09:00); results by 16 November 2026
  • Round 1, 2027: Application deadline 15 March 2027, 11:00 (form opens 1 February 2027, 09:00); results by 10 May 2027
  • Round 2, 2027: Application deadline 27 September 2027, 11:00 (form opens 16 August 2027, 09:00); results by 22 November 2027
  • Name, contact information, I&V reference number, and award year
  • Brief description of the research or project
  • Textual report describing execution, changes from original plan, difficulties encountered, collaboration outcomes, results evaluation, significance to artistic development, presentation to the public, and reception by others
  • Financial report showing expenses and income (receipts not required); explain any deviation exceeding 10% from the original budget
  • Visual report with images of the work process and results, plus two separate images for publication (total max 10 MB)

You cannot apply for an I&V grant if you have an active Praktijkbijdrage (Practice Contribution) application, and vice versa.

Open to Rotterdam-based visual artists registered at Art Office with valid login credentials and a current artist page as of the application date.
