Ausschreibung: Public Art München – Annuale 2027

Overview

Public Art München invites artists to participate in an open art competition for projects in public spaces, themed "Freiräume" (Free Spaces), for the Annuale 2027. Up to five art interventions can be realized in 2027, each with a budget of up to 15,000 EUR.

Theme: Freiräume

Munich's public space is scarce and sought after, affecting all residents in terms of living, working, traffic, recreation, exchange, and artistic development. In times of crisis, the importance of these spaces becomes even more apparent. For the Annuale 2027, Public Art München's annual series, the Cultural Department has opted for a broad theme, avoiding strict thematic, formal, or location-specific constraints, to foster free spaces and room for art.

Eligibility

• Open to all artists with residence in the S-Bahn area of Munich.
• Only one application per artist is allowed.

Project Details

• The budget for each individual project is a maximum of 15,000 EUR (gross).
• Up to five art interventions can be realized in 2027.
• All disciplines and media of current art discourse are welcome.
• Artistic projects must be temporary and take place in public spaces in 2027.
• Organization (including permits) and execution are the responsibility of the artists.
• Projects must consider Public Art München's Sustainability Roadmap.

Application Contents

• Written art concept (max. 2 DIN-A4 pages of text, max. 3 DIN-A4 pages of graphic illustration).
• Information on the start and duration of the art action, which must take place in Munich's urban area in 2027 with free admission.
• Statements on the artistic engagement with the location.
• Cost calculation (cost estimate) including project and operating costs: planning, realization, support, communication, artist fees, insurance, etc.
• Information on the mediation strategy: detailed statements on a discrimination-sensitive mediation strategy (refer to the mission statement and sustainability roadmap on publicartmuenchen.de/ueber-uns/).
