Overview
Joya: arte + ecología / AiR is an off-grid, climate-positive interdisciplinary residency established in 2006, located in the Parque Natural Sierra María–Los Vélez in northern Almería, Spain. It provides residents with time and space to create, reflect, and engage with their surroundings while learning about ecology and sustainable living. The region receives over 3,000 hours of sunlight annually and residents have access to individual studio spaces and 20 hectares of land.

Accommodation & What's Included

Expectations of Artists
Selected artists are invited to contribute a brief text outlining their practice during residency for the Joya website, linked to their artist website. Selected artists are requested (but not required) to present their work to other residents during their stay.
How to Apply
Submit a website with examples of recent work (required). If you do not have a website, email five images (for visual artists) or three writing samples (for writers) along with your application to [email protected]. Images should be no more than 500 pixels; writing samples in PDF format. Facebook profiles are not accepted; Instagram feeds are considered if accompanied by a CV.
